Poster Development and finished product.

Poster development:

For my poster i added my 3 girls to the background that i choose with the boy edited into the back ground i then started writing up my titled bar that i would input into my poster. By putting the girls closer to the front than the boy it makes him look more mysterious and if he is watching them which cognacs to the theme of the film and gives a clear insight to the film just by looking at it.

Before i decided on my final font i choose many different ones, i did not choose the one in the poster because it had blood dripping from the title this did not link with my horror theme as it is not a gory poster which means that the title should not be gory.

Once i had found my font i used the layer style to change the effects for the title such as a drop shadow and an outer glow to give more of a mysterious and horror feel to my poster.

BBFC: I used a bbfc rating of 15 and added it to my poster, i added it to photoshop and cut it out using the magnetic lesso tool and then imported it onto my poster.

Out of learner box i extracted a template of a title bar then changed the aspects and names for it to suit my horror theme and the characters that are involved into it.

This is the final product of my poster which has got the characters of the film, title, sub heading, poster blurb, BBFC age rating and horror companies in the bottom corners.

Photoshop - Poster

Photoshop progress

I took a picture of  my sisters then imported them onto photoshop and cut them out to add to my swing picture, i used the magnetic lasso tool which cut my sisters out of the original background. By doing this it made them incorporate into the background of the swing picture.

This shows the "Magnetic lesso tool" that i used to cut out the girls and boy from the original background.

I then put them onto my photo with the swing and edited them to make them look apart of the photo naturally and this gave them more of a old horror look to them which makes them apart of the film and not look like they have just been placed into the poster.

I edited the picture of my sisters by using the layer style and adding an inner shadow and changing the colour of my sisters to look more cold and apart of the poster.

Poster beginning picture and title.

Photoshop poster analysis

This is the picture i have chosen for my horror theme poster as it has the horror feeling with the dark essence around the edges of the poster. Also the swing links into the three little girls as if a play ground with a spooky and mysterious theme to it.

For my title i have put it at the top of my poster with a shadow effect, the font that i choose was "mother in law" as it gives the sketchy feeling to my horror theme. I got the font for my poster from "dafont" online which i downloaded and put them onto my photoshop.

I changed the effects of my title by using the layer style box which allowed me to give my title a stroke, inner shadow, pattern overlay and a drop shadow. This has given my title font more of a scary theme to it and helped it look more like it should be apart of the back picture and make it fit into the theme of the film.

Poster ideas updated.

Poster Update

I updated the idea about my horror poster and changed some of the aspects of it; i changed the tree house to a swing with the girls on the right side and the boy on the left with the dark shade fading light as it moves to the right side of the poster.
I then moved the title to the bottom of the poster.

For my title i have tried to make some of the letters quite spiky towards the end to give it the effect of being unusual and in a horror theme.

Poster analysis

This was the first try at my horror film poster; for this idea i wanted three girls to be situated around a tree as if they were playing then a boy looking at them in the dark background as if watching. I put the title at the top of the poster shading out to make it look as if it had a shadow over the whole poster, i then added roots from the tree to add the horror effect.

PROPOSAL idea

Proposal:
This is the proposal that i created that evaluated what i was going to do for my poster and DVD sleeve, the title to the movie and the summery of the story line of the movie.
This shows the size of the poster and what it will be printed out at. It also shows how it will be advertised and how i have found out the title for the film '3 JUVENILE CASKETS'. Stating the genre of horror and the age rating of the film which will be 15 - 18 +, i then started the summery of the the film giving an insight of what my film will be about and to give a greater understanding of the posters.

This evaluates how my poster will look and what will be on the poster/DVD sleeve and it also shows the BBFC rating which i choose 15.

Title: Photoshop
I photoshopped a girl that had spots and a oily skin, i got rid of her spots and moles with the spot healing tool which got rid of all the imperfections on her face. I then made a copy of picture and added a mask which enables me to erase through the image and stops her face from looking oily. I then used the brush tool which i focused her eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and hair to look more in definition.

Before.

After.

Proposal for poster and DVD sleeve

Proposal for creative media production project.

Format and Medium
My print for my movie poster will be an A4 size, I will make sure that it will be in high resolution so that if I decide to put it in bill boards or the sides of busses the quality of the picture will still be as good as it is in small print.

Sector
The poster that I will be publishing will be marketing for a film, the poster can be published onto billboards, in magazines and on other advertising possibilities. The film poster is very important because that is what the audience first see of a film, it gives them a slight insight to what the film may be about and what type of characters may be involved in it. A poster can also determine if the audience are attracted to it and decide by the quality if they will go to see it. This means that the film poster will have to look eye catching and interesting for the audience to show interest to the film.

Working title
A title for the poster is very important it gives insight of what the film is going to be about, it is also important as it gives a effect to how the audiences feel about the film and poster it can also attract the audiences. For example a horror film title is normally dark and mysterious that can connect to the film but not too obvious; black or red fonts and colours are the most popular themes to a horror film. The title for my film will be 3 JUVENILE CASKETS. I have called my film this as juvenile is another word for young as the 3 girls are young vessels that the young boy sees as caskets for his sisters souls to be replaced into.

Genre
My genre for my film will be horror

Intent of audience and age
The audience target for my film is 18+ as it is a horror; I choose this age because the film will be graphic and not suitable for those under the age. I also choose this age because they are more understanding of a complicated movie that has hidden meanings to understand and comprehend. My target audience will be both male and female that have an interest in horrors.

Summary of content
3 innocent girls. 1 demonic boy. When 3 girls go to play in their family home play house they realise that they are not the only ones that want to play but does this demonic mysterious boy really want to play or has he got a score to settle to rest his soul.
The girls know that they are the only ones that can see this boy but when the family start to realise that something strange is going on is it too late for the girls.
With their hair and eyes changing, their sense of dress and eating habits deteriorating, the boy has to possess both the girls to seek revenge for the tragic accident that occurred hundreds of years ago with his three sisters that caused him to become what he is today.
The boy causes the mum and dad to become seriously ill while the girls run wild slowly becoming the sisters he once had.
The only way to stop the demonic boy is the hope of the family friend who is looking after the mum and dad to realise that she is the only one to stop this supernatural terror. But as time ticks on does she have enough time to create peace for him and his real sisters through Ouija board to save the family?

Summery of style
The look of my poster and film will be very dark, cold and mysterious. My poster will consist of the 3 girls, 1 wearing today clothes, the 2nd just wearing an olden time hat and hairstyle and the last fully in clothes from the Elizabethan era. The girls will be around the tree house and the boy will be in the back round as a shadowy figure. The whole poster will have a blue/black overlay to create the horror theme to it. With the title above the children creating a shadow to them.

Legal and ethical consideration
The film poster will be suitable through out the day as it will not show any gruesome or inappropriate scenes that children cannot see. The poster will not have any racism, sexism and will not offend any religion or ethnic races. The poster will be suitable for all ages to see but the trailer will be shown on tv after the 9pm time.

Title: analysing posters for films (horror)
i analysed posters for horror films highlighting the main factors that make a poster link to its theme, i also stated the relevance that the title had to the poster in the way that it was presented and how this added to the theme of that film.
with this i took four different posters to do my analysis that had different effects in the same film theme.
